I find the saying “most people give up just as they’re about to achieve success” hilarious. There’s absolutely no way to prove whether it’s true or not, but it’s a delightful thought.
Most of us have given up on something that never became very successful. Whether or not it was just about to become successful is irrelevant.
The reason we gave up is what’s important.
Have you ever quit because you knew in order to succeed, you’d have to do a whole load of work you didn’t want to do?
Yep, same here.
I’m not talking about working long hours, anyone can do that. I’m talking about doing the work you would rather chew off your own arm than do. Like asking for help. Asking for feedback. Self-promotion. Charging what you’re worth. Saying no. Saying yes. Giving up cynicism. Going to therapy.

If that underlying reason you really quit is still there, it will follow you. You can do everything right this time, set up amazing opportunities, work with brilliant people and still throw it away.
That can’t happen. It’s time to secure the bag.
